One example of successful Google X projects is Taara, a startup that uses laser technology to provide high-speed Internet in remote areas. In March 2025, Alphabet, the parent company of Google, separated Taara into a separate company, highlighting the success and prospects of this project.
In addition to internal initiatives, Google X plays an important role in supporting startups through incubation programs. Startup incubators provide entrepreneurs with the resources, mentorship, and funding they need to turn ideas into viable businesses.
There are also similar initiatives in Ukraine. In October 2024, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine announced six winners of the project to create start-up schools — incubators — accelerators based on higher education institutions and scientific institutions.
Among them:
- National Aviation University
- Vinnytsia National Technical University
- Kyiv Academic University
- Sumy State University
- National Technical University “Dnipro Polytechnic”
- National University “Odessa Polytechnic”
Each of them received up to UAH 1.5 million for the development of start-up schools, which are to be implemented during 2024—2026.
In 2024, Ukraine also hosted the Social Impact Award Ukraine program, which provided three winners with a $1,500 prize and a ticket to the SIA 2024 finals in Germany.
Collaboration with incubators and participation in their programs allows startups to access expert knowledge, a network of contacts and financial support, which greatly increases the chances of success in a competitive environment.
You can learn more about Google X and how the startup incubator works during our business tour in the United States, which will take place from April 7 to 11. Details by link.
